Add links to text
Add, edit, or remove links on selected text and understand how linked text behaves in Kittl downloads and shared designs.
Turn any text in your design into a clickable link. It's a nice way to point people to a website from a resume, a portfolio, a social kit, or any design you plan to share as a PDF.
Create a link
Select the text you want to link. Highlight specific characters, or select the whole text box.
Click Add Link in the contextual toolbar.
Type or paste the URL into the field, then press Enter or click the checkmark (✓) to confirm. You don't need to include "https://," the link still opens correctly without it
Edit or remove a link
To edit a link:
Select the linked text, or place your cursor inside it.
Click the pencil icon in the toolbar that appears.
Update the URL, then press Enter or click the checkmark to confirm.
To remove a link:
Select the linked text, or place your cursor inside it.
Click the unlink icon in the toolbar.
Expected outcome
A confirmation toast appears each time you add or remove a link ("Link added" or "Link removed"). Once a link is live, holding Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and clicking it opens the URL directly.
How links work
In the editor: the project owner and collaborators with edit permission can open and edit a link. Collaborators with view-only permission can open a link but can't edit it. External links always open in a new tab.
In exported PDFs: active links stay clickable.
Troubleshooting
My link isn't clickable in my export
Links only stay clickable in PDF exports. If you export your design as a PNG, JPEG, SVG, or another image format, the design is flattened into a static image and the link won't work. Export as PDF instead to keep it active.
Common questions
Can I link an image or a shape?
Not yet. Linking is currently limited to text.
Can I link to another artboard in my project?
Not currently. Links can only point to an external URL.
Why doesn't my link open when I click it?
Make sure you're holding Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking, since a plain click selects the text instead of opening the link.
