Manage your artboards
Create, rename, move, duplicate, resize, clip, download, and delete artboards while adjusting key artboard settings.
Artboards define the boundaries of your design in Kittl. Use them to set canvas size, organise multiple designs in one project, and control what gets exported.
Create new artboards
Open a project or start a new one.
Select the Artboard tool [A] in the toolbar at the bottom of the editor, below the AI input box.
Click and drag on your canvas to draw a new artboard.
Use the corner points to change the dimensions. Hold [Shift] to unlock proportional scaling.
Use the settings panel on the right to enter exact values, change the artboard background color, or toggle between clipping mode and unclipped mode.
Rename an artboard
Double-click the artboard title to edit the name.
Type the new name.
Click outside to exit editing mode.
Move artboards
Select the title of an artboard.
Drag it to a new position.
Hold [shift] to constrain movement horizontally or vertically.
Duplicate an artboard
Option 1: contextual toolbar
Select the title of an artboard to activate the contextual toolbar.
Click the duplicate icon.
Option 2: copy and paste
Right-click the artboard title and choose Copy [Cmd/Ctrl+C].
Right-click on your canvas and choose Paste [Cmd/Ctrl+V].
Set a project thumbnail
Right-click the title of the artboard you want to use.
Select Set as Project Thumbnail.
This sets that artboard's current look as the image shown on your project's tile in your Projects dashboard. You can only have one project thumbnail at a time, repeat these steps on a different artboard to switch it.
Change the artboard size
Select the artboard title to open the settings panel on the right.
Use the Artboard Size presets to choose a default size, or drag the corner points to resize manually. Hold [Shift] to unlock proportional scaling.
Use the settings panel on the right to enter exact width and height values, change the background color, or toggle clipping mode.
Add, change, or remove an artboard's background color
Select the artboard title to open the right panel.
In the Color section, click + Add Color if the artboard doesn't have one yet, or click the existing swatch to change it.
Pick Solid, Linear, or Radial, then choose a shade or enter a HEX code. See Change element colors for the full color window: the eyedropper, ready-made palettes, and your Brand's colors all work here too.
To remove the color, click the − next to Color. The artboard goes back to having no background color set.
Artboard clipping
By default, elements dragged inside an artboard clip to it automatically, and anything outside the artboard boundary won't appear in exports.
To disable clipping, select the artboard and turn off Clip content in the right panel.
To turn it back on, select the artboard and turn Clip content on again.
Change dimension units
Click the menu icon in the top left of your screen.
Hover over Settings.
Select your preferred unit from the submenu: Inches (in), Pixels (px), or Millimetres (mm).
Download artboards
Click Export in the top right of the screen to open the Export panel.
Click the artboard dropdown at the top of the panel to choose which artboards to export. You can select all artboards or tick individual ones.
See Choose your export settings for size, DPI, file format, color profile, and background and quality options.
Delete artboards
Option 1: keyboard
Select the title of an artboard.
Press [Backspace] to delete it.
Option 2: contextual taskbar
Select the title of an artboard to activate the contextual taskbar.
Click the three dots on the right of the taskbar.
Select Delete.
